Being primarily a landscape artist, I always prefer to
paint outside in front of the subject whenever I can
and to complete paintings on site. If that's not possible I will either finish back in the studio or use what I do have for other paintings.
My style is to use bold direct brushwork with a limited palette, and when painting on site I will endeavour to simplify the scene before me while working as quickly as possible, while always being aware not to get caught up with unnecessary detail. In the studio however, having the luxury of time and without the elements to contend with painting is a much more considered process. Working in the studio also gives me time to try out different compositions and to look at the painting in a new light, allowing me to take the work into other
directions that I may not have done out in the field.
I do hope you enjoy looking at the various galleries on this site and if you have any about my work please don't
hesitate to get in touch via the contact page.
