Being primarily a landscape artist I always prefer to
paint outside and whenever I can complete on site. If that's not possible I'll finish back in the studio or use whatever reference I have gathered for future paintings.
My aim is to capture the atmosphere of the scene before me with direct brushwork and a limited palette, working as quickly as possible and not to getting caught up with unnecessary detail.
In the studio painting is a much more considered process, giving me time to try out different ideas and to look at the painting in a new light which in turn allows me to take the work into new directions that I may not have out ithe
field.
I do hope you enjoy looking at the various galleries on this site and if you have any questions about my work please don't hesitate to get in touch via the contact page.
